FAQs

We have tried to anticipate some of your most frequently asked questions. However, if we have not answered your question(s), please complete the General Inquiry Form, and we will respond to your inquiry within two business days.

General

Q. What is the difference between a front-end fund and a back-end fund?
A. When you purchase units of a front-end (or initial sales charge) fund, you usually pay a percentage of the amount you invest to your Financial Advisor. You do not pay a sales commission when you purchase units of a back end (or deferred sales charge) fund. The entire amount of your investment is used to purchase units and we pay the commission to your Financial Advisor on your behalf. However, you will pay a redemption fee if you sell your units within seven years of buying them. We do not charge a redemption fee when you sell units of a front end fund. Please see the Simplified Prospectus for a more detailed explanation.

Q. Can I purchase CI mutual funds online?
A. CI mutual funds cannot be purchased online. You can purchase CI funds through licensed dealers, such as independent Financial Advisors. Your Financial Advisor will help you complete the application form and facilitate the purchase on your behalf.

Q. How do I set up an account with CI Investments?
A. You can open an account with CI Investments by completing our application form, which you can get from your Financial Advisor. We recommend speaking to your Financial Advisor to determine the account and investments best suited for you.

Q. Why should I seek professional investment advice?
A. A Financial Advisor will work with you to determine which investments best suit your objectives, risk tolerance, time horizons and return expectations. Your Financial Advisor can provide you with on going investment services and advice, ensuring that your investment portfolio continues to reflect your individual needs.

Financial Advisors are not employed by CI Investments and we do not endorse any individual or financial dealership. If you do not have a Financial Advisor, you may wish to ask your friends or family to recommend someone they trust for financial advice. Alternatively, you can search for Financial Advisors in your area using an online search engine or your local telephone directory.

Q. Where can I find more information about CI funds?
A. You can read more about each of our funds on this website, in the fund’s Simplified Prospectus, annual reports, semi-annual reports and management reports on fund performance available here to view and download. You may wish to ask your Financial Advisor for additional materials and information on our products.

Q. Who can I contact for more information about CI?
